Hi! My name is Hilary and I’m embarking on the journey of writing my first novel. On this website I plan to track my progress and share musings on the process of writing and completing a full book. My goal is to share my successes, failures, and struggles and I hope this blog will help keep me accountable for reaching my goals.

I’m also offering Beta and Alpha Reading services here. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a work in progress you’re ready to get reader feedback on!

Here are some fun facts about me:

  • I used to work in International Development and have lived in Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya and the UK.

  • I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Sarah Lawrence College in New York and a Master’s in Human Rights from University College London in the UK.

  • I lived in NYC (Brooklyn girl here!) for several years until I recently moved to Oklahoma to help my mother through an illness.

  • I have 3 rescue cats - 2 brothers I adopted in Cambodia and a lovebug I saved as a kitten in Brooklyn at the height of the pandemic.

  • As a child I LOVED creative writing and it was a huge outlet for me. I recently reinvigorated my love for the craft and have read several books in the past few years on plot structure, character development, themes and the application of tropes. I’m hoping I can share what I’ve learned through my blog and by helping authors with my reading services.
